HIV Reference
The HIV Serology Laboratory and the HIV Characterisation Laboratory form the HIV State Reference Laboratory which was established in 1987.
Its functions are:
To provide confirmatory testing of all new diagnoses of HIV in Victoria
To detect and quantify HIV in clinical material
To evaluate new assays for the detection of HIV markers
To determine antiretroviral drug susceptibility
To determine relatedness between HIV strains.Body
