A staff of 3 provides the 'first-line support' for all software
and hardware services available at VIDRL which includes the following
- support for all networked PC's, Macintosh computers and printers
- file and print services
- Medipath Pathology system (including instrument interfaces)
- Microsoft Office suite
- web site development and maintenance
- database design and management
- assorted data extraction and analysis tools (e.g. MapInfo,
Corvu)
- Adobe Publishing Collection
Services available to external customers include autofaxing and
electronic transfer of laboratory results.
Electronic results can be transmitted in either the PIT or HL7
formats. Electronic invoices for institutional customers are also
available upon request. The Information Services unit is interested
in collaborating with any client wanting to implement electronic
ordering of pathology requests.
